BIOGRAPHY
MARLO LIVES AND WORKS IN GENEVA SWITZERLAND
After discovering the intimate pleasure and emotional outlet when 12 years old at school in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, in Lugano, Ticino, I choose art to accompany me when at UCLA Los Angeles, California USA with accent on personal creativity that suits my intuitive alla prima painting, letting inspiration surge from deep in me and seizing the spark of emotion at the origin of an artwork. While living 4 years in Rome, among other places in the world (Montreal, Tunisia, Los Angeles, Vienna, Lugano and Geneva where I settled down) I self- studied the Italian Renaissance masters and absorbed their mastery of colors and composition to transmit meaning to an artwork. In addition, I also studied Giorgio Vasary’s first methodology of art studies, a backbone still today in Art schools. These are the poles of my art, with poetry as weft, since I am also a many prized poet and performer thereof; they form my expressiveness, deepened and increased through the tragedies that hit my children, that brought me back to a meaningful life and to world happenings once more, my sensitiveness magnified by the realization that I too met war and refugee status at a young age, a major addition to my version of Contemporary art and total Abstraction that go beyond the limits of death into a fertile Beyond illustrated by abstraction as initiated by Kandinsky, Emilio Vedova, Piet Mondrian, Yves Klein, Zen practice and mysticism , a realm where my creativity is repeatedly renewed. I must not look back but be in the present with the past as my foundation

TODAY …. particularly poignant for me since I was born in 1941, by the hazards of my parent’s lives, under the bombings and sirens, running down to the cellar, …silence… deaths have been stuck buried, in me for years and the trauma of what it means for a child to be a refugee is also familiar since I was one during 1 year and a half , without any news near Zürich. Then taken up by Switzerland thanks to my swiss mother and in safety, swallowing the tears and following at school in a new language as best I could…so my paintings about war situations are really deeply felt
